GoDoU is a trust-based local discovery platform operated from Vancouver, BC, Canada. When we say "GoDoU," "we," or "us," we mean the GoDoU platform and its operators.
2. What We Collect
We collect the minimum data needed to provide the service:
Account information: Email address, display name, and password when you create an account.
Preferences: Activity and interest tags you select (e.g., "Hiking," "Coffee") to personalize recommendations.
Content you create: Routes ("go's"), spots, descriptions, and context notes you publish on the platform.
Usage data: Which go's you complete ("+1 do"), basic analytics to improve the service.
We do not collect precise GPS location data. We do not collect payment card information, health information, or government identifiers.
3. How We Use Your Data
To provide and personalize the GoDoU service (preference matching, route recommendations).
To display your public profile and published go's to other users.
To improve the platform through aggregated, non-identifying analytics.
4. What We Share
We do not sell your personal data. We share data only in these cases:
Public content: Go's you publish are visible to other users by design.
Service providers: Hosting (Google Cloud), email (Zoho Mail), and analytics providers who process data on our behalf.
Legal requirements: If required by law or to protect the safety of our users.
5. Third-Party Integrations
GoDoU integrates with ChatGPT via the OpenAI Apps SDK. When you use GoDoU through ChatGPT:
ChatGPT may send your preferences and search queries to our API to find and create go's.
We do not receive or store your ChatGPT conversation history.
Authentication is handled via OAuth 2.1. We receive only the access token needed to identify your account.
6. Data Retention
We keep your account data as long as your account is active. You can request deletion of your account and all associated data at any time by emailing neil@godou.io.
7. Your Rights
You can:
Access your data through your GoDoU profile.
Update or correct your preferences and profile information at any time.
Delete your account and all associated data by contacting us.
Export your data by contacting us.
8. Security
We use HTTPS encryption, secure password hashing, and access controls to protect your data. Our infrastructure runs on Google Cloud with industry-standard security practices.
9. Children
GoDoU is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13.
10. Changes
We may update this policy. Material changes will be communicated via the platform. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
