GoDoU is a trust-based local discovery platform operated from Vancouver, BC, Canada. When we say "GoDoU," "we," or "us," we mean the GoDoU platform and its operators.
2. What We Collect
We collect the minimum data needed to provide the service.
Early-access signup form (godou.io): When you submit the form at godou.io, we collect:
Email address
Name (whatever you type)
Role (the option you select)
City / region
Your one-sentence intent (the textarea where you tell us how you'd use GoDoU)
A SHA-256 hash of your IP address (used only for rate-limiting; the raw IP is never stored)
Your browser's User-Agent string (truncated to 200 characters)
The page you arrived from (the HTTP Referer, only if from godou.io)
Authenticated GoDoU app (when invited):
Account information: Email address, display name, and password.
Preferences: Activity and interest tags you select (e.g., "Hiking," "Coffee") to personalize recommendations.
Content you create: Routes ("go's"), spots, descriptions, and context notes you publish on the platform.
Usage data: Which go's you complete ("+1 do"), basic analytics to improve the service.
We do not collect precise GPS location data, payment card information, health information, or government identifiers. We do not use third-party analytics or tracking pixels on godou.io.
3. How We Use Your Data
To provide and personalize the GoDoU service (preference matching, route recommendations).
To display your public profile and published go's to other users.
To improve the platform through aggregated, non-identifying analytics.
4. What We Share
We do not sell your personal data. We share data only in these cases:
Public content: Go's you publish are visible to other users by design.
Service providers: The signup form data is stored in Cloudflare D1 (a serverless database hosted at the network edge in North America) and we use Resend to send signup notification emails to our founder inboxes. The authenticated GoDoU app is hosted on Google Cloud. Our email is hosted by Zoho Mail. Each provider processes data on our behalf under their own data-processing terms.
Legal requirements: If required by law or to protect the safety of our users.
5. Third-Party Integrations
GoDoU integrates with ChatGPT via the OpenAI Apps SDK. When you use GoDoU through ChatGPT:
ChatGPT may send your preferences and search queries to our API to find and create go's.
We do not receive or store your ChatGPT conversation history.
Authentication is handled via OAuth 2.1. We receive only the access token needed to identify your account.
6. Data Retention
We keep your account data as long as your account is active. You can request deletion of your account and all associated data at any time by emailing neil@godou.io.
7. Your Rights
You can:
Access your data through your GoDoU profile.
Update or correct your preferences and profile information at any time.
Delete your account and all associated data by contacting us.
Export your data by contacting us.
8. Security
We use HTTPS encryption (HSTS-enforced), secure password hashing, scoped API tokens, and access controls to protect your data. The early-access signup data is stored in Cloudflare D1, accessible only to our infrastructure via Cloudflare's authenticated bindings. The authenticated GoDoU app runs on Google Cloud with industry-standard security practices. Raw IP addresses from the signup form are never stored; only a one-way SHA-256 hash is kept for rate-limiting.
9. Adults Only
GoDoU is intended for adults (18+). Please don't sign up if you're under 18. We don't knowingly collect data from anyone under 18, and we'll delete it on discovery — email neil@godou.io.
10. Changes
We may update this policy. Material changes will be communicated via the platform. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
